Single parents around the world rejoice as this woman nails it for them

Being a single parent can be really tough for some - all of the parenting responsibilities rests on one pair of shoulders. The cost of raising a child, whether that be financial, emotional or simply in terms of time is often highlighted as something that can only be achieved by a couple. However, as 1 in 8 people in Ireland live in a one-parent family, we know that this 'ideal' is absolutely not the case for many modern families. As such, the fantastic Humans of New York have published a heart-warming post from a mother of one who is living in the city. Here's how she described her life as a single mother:

“I’d always wanted children, but I just never met the guy. So I decided to go to a sperm bank. I started trying when I was 42, and I had her when I was 45. People always ask me if it’s hard being a single mother. I say: ‘Yes. But not as hard as it would be if I didn’t have her.’”
