When it comes to designing a nursery for an expected newborn, there are generally a few basic rules that parents mostly follow.
DO:
Go with a colour scheme that is either neutral or matches the sex of your kid (if you know in advance!).
Create a soothing ambiance that your little darling will rest in peacefully.
Suspend some pretty mobiles from the ceiling to give your child something to focus on, given that they spend so much time on their little backs.
Have a changing station that is both practical and safe for your little one.
DON'T:
Use harsh lighting, especially not directly over the crib.
Consider dark or scary decor that will freak a tiny newborn out.
Don't bring your grown-up tv or movie obsessions into the room.
(Okay, I obviously made up those last two, but in my defence, it's because I had to look at

A Harry Potter-obsessed couple in Illinois spent three months creating this themed nursery for their seven-month-old son, Kaycee.
The room features a 3D mural on one wall (above), artwork and books from the series as well as an array Harry Potter blankets and cushions.
I can't say that I'm a huge fan despite REALLY loving Harry Potter.
I'd totally get a themed room for an older kid but medieval lampshades and portraits of Dumbledore in the baby's room?
I'm not so sure about that!
